In case of a Hurricane or other type of emergency, Mary Help of Christians will usually be closed when the public schools are closed. Please listen to the media, check this space, or call us (if possible) to find out when the school will reopen.
The policy of the Archdiocese of Miami concerning Hurricane Closings is that our Catholic school will close when the public school system of Broward County closes.
The Archdiocese of Miami will do their best to reopen schools on a county by county basis. This is not always possible - since the effects of the storm are different for each school. Public schools often remain closed because they are used as shelters. There may be times that our Catholic school does not need to remain closed for the same amount of time as the public schools in the area.
The Archdiocese policy states, "if a school feels that it is safe to reopen and that there is electricity, water, and it is safe for students to travel to school, the school may reopen." |
